ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Port Facility Security Supervisor (PFSS) is responsible for, but not limited to the following: 

Operation and Team Management

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of security guards, ensuring that all shifts are adequately staffed and that security duties are performed effectively.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to security personnel to enhance their skills and performance.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, address any personnel issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Oversee daily security operations, including monitoring access points, patrolling the premises, and managing security equipment and systems.
  • Ensure that security protocols and procedures are followed consistently and that any security incidents or breaches are promptly addressed.
  • Develop and implement security plans and strategies to enhance safety and prevent security threats.
  • Respond to security incidents, emergencies, and disturbances, taking appropriate action to manage and resolve situations.
  • Conduct investigations into security incidents, prepare detailed reports, and document findings and actions taken.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement, emergency services, and other relevant authorities as needed.
  • Ensure that all security operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements, company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify adherence to safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Implement and enforce safety measures and emergency response plans to ensure the well-being of guests and staff.
  • Maintain effective communication with other departments and management to coordinate security efforts and address any issues or concerns.
  • Provide clear and accurate information to guests and staff regarding security protocols and procedures.
  • Prepare and present security reports and updates to management, highlighting key issues and recommendations for improvement.
  • Organize and lead training sessions for security personnel on security protocols, emergency procedures, and customer service.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new security technologies to enhance the effectiveness of security operations.

Compliance & Quality Control

  • Uphold environmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Promote a safe work environment; Comply with the safety competencies and all company policies.
  • Adhere to the company’s standards regarding dress and appearance.
  • Extend appropriate greeting to all guests at every opportunity using their names.
  • Follow all safety regulations during duty.
  • Follow all environmental, company and HESS policies and procedures as applicable for the position.

Reporting & Maintenance

  • Complete work logs and report any issues to the Deputy Port Facility Security Officer (DPFSO).
  • Assist with management and maintenance of all units and common spaces on site.
  • Report all repairs to be made in assigned section, especially safety related issues and follow-up with management as necessary.
  • Advise any employee or security challenges immediately to the Deputy Port Facility Security Officer (DPFSO).

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice, security management, or a related field preferred.
  • Certification in security or law enforcement (e.g., Security Officer License, Certified Protection Professional) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a security role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management position.

SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge of security operations, safety procedures, and emergency response protocols.
  • Proven experience in managing a security team, handling incidents, and implementing security measures.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in standard office software and security management systems.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with employees and guests.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, managers and co-workers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be physically fit.
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and think critically.
  • Previous work experience preferred.
