Responsibilities
The Senior Engineer, Cloud is responsible for engineering and maintaining complex cloud environments. This role is responsible for delivering complex, highly secure, high-performance, scalable, cloud-first/could native solutions that meet or exceed RTO/RPO requirements. The Senior Engineer’s role includes developing, implementing, and maintaining cloud platform tools that are fundamental to the operation of the cloud team. Other responsibilities include disaster recovery and business continuity, cost optimization, security and compliance remediation, performance monitoring, and vendor engagement.
Essential Functions:
Operations: Function as an advanced technical resource for the Cloud Services environment, overseeing daily activities, governance, operationalization, and cost management of cloud platforms. Develop and maintain tools that support the operation of cloud platforms (i.e., cloud patching, cloud migration, infrastructure such as code provisioning, and configuration management). Identify and implement cost optimization changes related to rightsizing, uptime scheduler, and environment cleanup. Manage the day-to-day activities of the cloud environment.
Cloud Projects: Take a lead role with application development teams and on cloud solutions projects to execute infrastructure pipelines and implement cloud best practices. Implement and manage cloud resources, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems. Implement automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) to streamline deployment processes and improve operational efficiency. Provide cost estimates for labor, hardware, software, and other project planning needs. Ensure proper transition to the support team following the acceptance to run process.
Compliance and Security: Ensure that cloud systems adhere to best practices, security policies, and compliance requirements. Ensure security vulnerabilities are remediated in cloud environments. Assist with the definition of governance standards and ensure they are implemented across cloud resources. Assist with Disaster Recovery and Business continuity planning, testing, and execution.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Collaborate with managed services provider to proactively monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, security issues, and ensure incidents are resolved promptly. Provide technical leadership and oversee troubleshooting and problem resolution as needed. Communicate significant problems or issues to management. Regularly assess current systems and recommend improvements.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience
Master’s Degree, preferred
(AWS, Azure, or GCP) Solutions Architect – Associate preferred
Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) preferred
Terraform Associate Certification preferred
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) preferred
Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI, preferred
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
Requires an in-depth understanding of provided architecture designs and the automation and support of the organization’s cloud infrastructure.
Strong foundation in client-server technology and strong knowledge of multi-cloud solutions.
Scripting or development knowledge with common coding frameworks.
Ability to think strategically and a demonstrated vision for future trends.
Ability to think critically, problem solve creatively and perform root cause analysis.
Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and deadlines.
Good analytical skills and attention to detail with a strong business sense.
Ability to manage tight deadlines, prioritize workload, and achieve effective results.
Ability to write comprehensive and concise technical communications (i.e. email, reports, presentations) to be consumed by non-technical individuals.
Ability to create PowerPoint presentations that are informative and engaging and deliver them to various audiences including management.
Very good communication, team building, conflict management, and organizational skills.
Proven track record of working collaboratively with cross functional teams to achieve common goals and drive results
Proficiency in MS Office.
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and concepts
5+ years As a cloud engineer, providing support and solutions, preferably with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
5+ years’ Experience designing distributed, highly available, fault-tolerant systems in multi-cloud environments across geographically distributed data centers.
5+ years’ Experience implementing and supporting client-server technologies (on-prem data centers or hybrid cloud).
5+ years Using industry-standard DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins, Tekton, Chef, Spinnaker, HashiCorp Vault, Terraform, Grafana, etc.).
5+ years Using IaC Provisioning tools (Terraform, AWS Cloudformation, Azure RM, GCP Cloud Build, etc.).
5+ years’ Experience in ITIL and IT project management via various SDLCs (i.e. Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, etc.)
5+ years Participating in cross-functional technology teams.
1+ years In the cruise and/or travel industry, preferred.
Physical Demands: Remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time, reasonable adjustments will be offered.
Travel: None or very little travel likely
Work Conditions: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
