Business Lead, Retail Optimization, is responsible for the P&L, with the goal of optimizing retail performance, growing the profitability of the business, help define pricing / revenue management, co-leading long-term strategy, supporting vendor management, and exceeding guest expectations.  They will be responsible for the price architecture, promotion and developing a demand-based pricing model for retail. Will also works highly integrated with the Targeted Marketing and Pre-cruise teams to define, launch and analyze effectiveness of promotions.  This role includes pricing benchmarking with competitors, shoreside retailers. The Business Lead also builds business cases to negotiate new products & categories with our retail partners that include differentiation based on seasonality, exclusivity, etc..  They will co-build the long-term plan for retail growth based on product, category, ship deployment strategy for CCL and our partners.  This role works integrated with In-house retail, partner's retail team to provide insights on Retail Improvement Processes and pricing. This role will also follow competitive moves and analyze market data to identify trends and opportunities, developing strategic direction from market information. Lead CCL retail development and business case requirements and support investments strategic partnerships.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop Retail Optimization strategies for retail by partner, product/category, price, and itinerary. Build business cases to activate new product and promotions with retail partners that include differentiated models based on seasonality, exclusivity, etc. Manage the execution of new agreements. Identify opportunities for Dynamic Pricing in the mid/long-term (strategy, IT requirements, governance, implementation)
  • Co-lead demand forecast model and allocations for our retail portfolio including but not limited to: new product development, current offerings optimization, contract negotiation, partner relations, predictive models to forecast future inventory needs based on known brand deployment. Evaluate historical purchase patterns and expectations of guest segmentation in future.
  • Define, evaluate, launch and analyze success metrics for various campaigns, trials, pricing and promotions, bundles tests, both for Pre-cruise and for Targeted Marketing.
  • Identify growth opportunities for retail products, pre/post-Cruise and shipboard, and develop the investment strategy negotiate terms and conditions of potential deals, including CAPEX required (e.g. website development) or potential partnerships.
  • Support VP/Director on preparation of business cases for Capital Expenditures and major business improvements. Evaluate return on investment of proposed projects with our retail partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, finance, business, experience in Statistics, Inventory Management, Financial modelling.
  • 5+ years total experience including a combination of 1) Business development and management, and performance tracking, 2) Designing and implementing business plans and initiatives in complex organization; 3) Exposed to a variety of industries, 4) High pace environment like management consulting, private equity or start-ups.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills to maximize opportunities for alignment within Carnival and with Retail Partners. A results-driven team player who knows how to execute successfully.  A strong intellect and the ability tap into the taste level of the Carnival customer.  Excellent interpersonal skills.  Excellent communication skills.  Ability to be flexible and adapt, as well as resilience and resourcefulness.  A proactive style combined with a high energy level. Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
  • Knowledge of overall business strategy and operations including business processes, revenue and cost components and drivers of these measures.  High-level proficiency with financial statement analysis and retail modeling. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.  Organizational skills to coordinate action plans and implement actionable strategies. Excellent presentation skills to deliver effective and informative material.

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities.

Travel: Less than 25% ship and shore-based travel

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.

The range for this role’s base salary is $60,600 - $88,900.  Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
