The Technical Supervisor supports the Technical Manager by overseeing day‑to‑day maintenance operations, coordinating multi‑trade technicians, troubleshooting equipment issues, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, and managing work planning and scheduling. The role combines hands‑on technical expertise with people leadership and strong organizational skills to keep facilities, utilities, and equipment operating reliably and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Safety & Compliance

  • Lead daily safety touchpoints/toolbox talks; enforce PPE, permits, and safe‑work practices.
  • Ensure emergency resources (spill kits, eyewash, fire protection, safety signage) are available, inspected, and compliant.
  • Uphold environmental standards and adhere to all company policies, codes, and regulatory requirements.

Workplace Organization & Equipment Control

  • Maintain clean, organized, and audit‑ready work areas (shops, tool rooms, storage).
  • Control tools and equipment: keep inventories accurate, replace damaged items promptly, and ensure manuals/diagnostic software are current.
  • Ensure all equipment is presentable and in good operating condition.

Maintenance Operations & Technical Support

  • Oversee installation, repair, troubleshooting, and preventive/predictive maintenance for facility systems (e.g., electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, utilities).
  • Provide hands‑on technical guidance; respond to urgent maintenance needs; coordinate vendors/contractors as required.
  • Drive root‑cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve reliability.

Operations Management & Work Planning

  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule work; assign work orders and balance workloads to meet operational and budget goals.
  • Track progress, completion rates, and maintenance KPIs; maintain accurate asset histories, inspections, and logs.
  • Coordinate priorities with leadership and adjust plans to minimize operational disruption.

Inventory, Parts & Resource Management

  • Maintain safe stock levels of spare parts, tools, accessories, and consumables; initiate replenishment to reduce downtime.
  • Verify deliveries and ensure materials/resources are available when needed.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement

  • Inspect maintenance and installation work to verify quality standards are met.
  • Implement procedures and safe systems of work; ensure adherence to environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and lead corrective actions to enhance consistency, reliability, and safety.

Team Supervision, Leadership & Training

  • Supervise multi‑trade technicians; set expectations, coach performance, and promote accountability and collaboration.
  • Support shift coverage as needed and ensure staff are properly uniformed and equipped for assigned tasks.
  • Partner with HR on staffing, onboarding, and skills development; validate/approve timesheets.

SKILLS SPECIFICS:

  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem‑solving abilities, 
  • Proficiency in preventive/predictive maintenance methods and work planning/scheduling, 
  • Strong analytical and decision‑making skills, 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry/reporting tools, 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and data‑protection standards.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, 
  • Technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a technical, facilities, or maintenance role.
  • Prior supervisory or team‑lead experience preferred.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and related systems.
  • Experience working with maintenance management systems and coordinating work orders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proven ability to deliver safe, high‑quality, and customer‑focused service.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and general facilities maintenance, 
  • Understanding of workplace safety practices, maintenance processes, and equipment operation standards, 
  • Familiarity with maintenance and asset‑management systems (e.g., CMMS), 
  • Basic understanding of vendor coordination, work order systems, and preventive maintenance principles.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically fit and able to work in indoor/outdoor conditions as required;
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional; 
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs as needed; 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work variable schedules (nights/weekends/holidays) based on operational needs.
