The Supervisor, Health Staff Administration, is responsible for overseeing administrative operations that support shipboard health staffing across Carnival Corporation’s North American brands.  This role supervises a team of Health Staff Associates responsible for scheduling, recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, and administrative coordination for shipboard Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, Medical Support Staff, and Public Health Officers.

The role oversees endtoend scheduling workflows for shipboard medical staff, ensuring adequate numbers of qualified health staff are credentialed, scheduled, and onboarded in alignment with operational requirements.  Working in close partnership with managers, recruitment and performance teams, and public health stakeholders, the Supervisor supports continuity, compliance, and workforce optimization across all Carnival Corporation’s North American brands.  This position supports enterprise scheduling platforms, tools, and workflows and operates with sufficient flexibility to absorb additional scheduling responsibilities as medical staffing systems and processes evolve.

This role will interface with all North America brands, medical teams onboard, shoreside health services and public health leaders as well as external vendors that manage our healthcare systems. This includes supporting the North American brands, which comprises of five brands with approximately 65+ ships carrying over 10 million guests annually and employing over 100,000 team members.

Essential Functions:

Health Staff Scheduling:

  • Oversees daytoday scheduling operations for shipboard health staff across North American brands, including Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, Medical Support Staff, and Public Health Officers.

  • Supervises the execution, accuracy, and timeliness of schedule development, maintenance, and coverage adjustments to support fleet operational readiness.

  • Partners with Medical Staffing Managers and recruiters to align assignments with credentialing status, skills mix, continuity goals, and shipspecific requirements.

  • Anticipates and responds to urgent staffing needs, including coverage gaps, training events, conferences, and lastminute operational changes, escalating risks as appropriate.

  • Maintains oversight of travel, onboarding, and regulatory considerations impacting scheduling, including visas, licenses, certifications, and valid seafarer medical fitness certificates.

  • Monitors staffing data and reports to identify trends, forecast risks, and communicate anticipated shortages or constraints.

  • Supports scheduling system enhancements and process changes as enterprise staffing tools and platforms evolve.

Supervision of Health Staff Associates: 

  • Provides direct supervisory oversight of Health Staff Associates delivering administrative support across scheduling, onboarding, credentialing, performance, and learning functions.

  • Assigns, priorities, and balances workloads across teams and staffing disciplines to ensure timely and consistent operational support.

  • Coaches and develops Associates to improve accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to established processes and standards.

  • Collaborates with Medical Staffing leadership and crossfunctional partners to identify workflow gaps and implement approved process improvements.

  • Oversees the application of feedback mechanisms, including fleet surveys and stakeholder input, to support service quality improvements

Credentialing and Onboarding:

  • Supervises the collection, validation, and tracking of medical staff qualifications, certifications, licenses, and registrations.  

  • Supervises the collection of background checks and verification of credentials of potential hires.   

  • Obtains feedback from candidates regarding the hiring and onboarding process to facilitate quality improvements.

Inter-Departmental Collaboration and Ad Hoc project Support:

  • Provides cross-coverage for other roles, upon request of the Senior Manager.  

  • Supports ad hoc and non-recurring Health Services projects. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Scope: This role plays a critical role within the staffing function by overseeing daytoday administrative operations that support shipboard health staffing. The role spans both shoreside and shipboard environments and has global reach, ensuring effective scheduling, onboarding, and credentialing of medical staff across the fleet. This position serves as a key operational connector between recruiters, medical leadership, shipboard teams, and external partners to ensure continuity, compliance, and readiness of medical staffing operations.

  • Problem solving: This role routinely addresses complex, timesensitive staffing challenges in a highly regulated and operationally constrained environment. Problem solving includes analyzing staffing data, credentialing requirements, and travel or regulatory constraints to anticipate shortages and resolve urgent coverage needs. The Supervisor is expected to exercise sound judgment in prioritizing competing demands, troubleshooting onboarding or credentialing gaps, and implementing process improvements to mitigate future staffing disruptions, often under tight timelines and with limited resources.

  • Impact: The role has impact on the operational readiness, safety, and quality of shipboard medical services across the fleet. By ensuring that qualified medical professionals are properly credentialed, scheduled, and onboarded, the role supports regulatory compliance, continuity of care, and guest and crew safety. The position influences staffing standards and administrative best practices across multiple brands and contributes to the effectiveness and credibility of the broader Medical Staffing and Health Services disciplines.

  • Leadership: This role provides direct supervisory leadership over a team of Health Staff Associates and is accountable for work allocation, scheduling, performance monitoring, coaching, and training. The Supervisor leads through collaboration, frequently coordinating with crossfunctional stakeholders and managing workflows across dottedline relationships. While not responsible for setting departmental budgets, the role requires responsible stewardship of resources through expense monitoring and operational efficiency, as well as the ability to lead teams through change, shifting priorities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree required, with Bachelor’s degree preferred. Preferred education in human resources, business administration, healthcare administration. ​​At minimum 3+ years of experience in a similar or relevant role.​

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and in other Windows-based applications and Strong understanding of SharePoint and Power Platforms.

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Physical Demands Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

This position is classified as “in-office.”  As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Monday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Fridays.  Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
