Purchasing Agent

The Purchasing Agent at Carnival Cruise Lines is responsible for procuring goods and services essential for shipboard operations. This role involves sourcing and negotiating with suppliers, managing vendor confirmations and out-of-stock items, and collaborating with both shoreside and shipboard teams. The Purchasing Agent will work closely with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisitions. The ideal candidate will have a background in supply chain management, strong organizational and communication skills, and proficiency in Oracle.

Job Functions:

• Review confirmations & source alternatives
• Collaborate with teams to resolve issues
• Maintain procurement records
• Coordinate logistics for deliveries
• Monitor inventory, forecast demand, and evaluate supplier performance

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 3–5 years in a related field, with proficiency in Oracle and strong organizational and communication skills.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Supports shipboard operations by ensuring timely procurement of goods and services. Involves coordination with both shoreside and shipboard teams and has a direct impact on operational efficiency.
• Resolves supply chain issues such as out-of-stock items and vendor delays through negotiation and alternative sourcing.
• Impacts procurement efficiency and cost control, contributing to the overall success of shipboard operations.
• No direct reports, but responsible for training new staff and collaborating across departments. Involves operational decision-making and budget monitoring.

Physical Demands:  Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

Travel:  None or very little travel likely.

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.  Must be able to come into the office (1) day a week.

This position is classified as “remote.”  As a remote role, it allows employees to work full-time from their home. It may also require regular travel to Carnival headquarters in Miami, FL for in-office collaboration.  Sourcing of candidates is primarily done in Carnival’s remote hubs of Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, Houston, and Dallas.  If the search is extended past those areas, candidates must be located in one of the following U.S. states:  FL, GA, TX and NC
