Responsibilities
The Director of Financial Shipboard Accounting is a vital leadership role within the Finance organization, responsible for overseeing and managing all onboard revenue/fleet accounting, port, and treasury accounting for CCL. Beyond accounting and finance, this role includes managing the treasury service function for CCL and Global Treasury, which involves reviewing and executing urgent multimillion-dollar payments, handling currency exchanges, and managing domestic and international banking partnerships. Additionally, the role encompasses the port operations finance function, overseeing port operations processes with financial impacts and managing financial reporting to port operations upper management and governmental entities. The Fleet team also manages state sales/use tax return filings and works closely with the operations team to manage onboard reporting and Concessionaire relationships. This position leads a high-performing team, collaborating with various levels of brand leadership to prepare and review financial results that support business decision-making. Strategically, this individual anticipates changes in CCL's business environment that could impact finance and effectively utilizes resources to respond.
Essential Functions:
- Direct, train and develop high-performing teams for purpose of delivery, timing and accurate financial closes, SOX and other regulatory compliance, as well as properly supporting operations initiatives. Teams include Fleet General Accounting, Treasury, and Port Finance (~20 team members).
- Direct the accounting and financial close for Fleet accounting, Treasury and Port areas including timely preparation of financial reporting ensuring accurate and complete reporting in accordance with GAAP, accounting policies, procedures, and methodologies. Review financial reporting and analyze variances and trends to identify issues, and opportunities to streamline processes and provide information to operations to assist them in making informed decisions based on recorded outcomes.
- Oversee all system implementations / enhancements/ setup requirements that impact fleet accounting, port, and/or treasury including system requirements, accounting impact, and reporting functionality. Critically evaluate to ensure all significant risks have been identified and mitigated prior to launch.
- Evaluate and review key policies, procedures, internal controls and assist in all related testing and documentation for the Internal Control Assessment under Sarbanes-Oxley as it relates to areas managed. Ensure risks and key controls are properly identified and tested.
- Proactively lead or participate in key projects related to the implementation of new revenue and business initiatives, serving as the subject matter expert to ensure proper accounting and reporting as well as assist operations with all financial aspects of these new initiatives including compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Interact with outside financial auditors and respond to requests in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- 8 years total experience required; 5 years in managing accounting areas.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Previous experience with Oracle Financial Systems, Hyperion Essbase.
Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
Travel: No or very little travel likely
Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.

- Sick Time – All full-time employees receive 80 hours of sick time each year. Part-time with benefits employees receive time off based on the number of hours they work, with a minimum of 60 hours each year.
