The Director, Strategic Sourcing - Indirect will lead a team and manage efforts to secure optimal sourcing opportunities with local and regional impacts. This role aims to deliver value, drive savings, increase efficiencies, assure supply, and mitigate supply chain risks. The Director will act as a strategic partner, understand business needs, and develop strategic priorities to leverage the category profile (Marketing, On Board Revenue and Shore Excursions) across 4 North American brands.​ This position will have significant spend oversight for OPEX and CAPEX in the range of $500M-$750M in annual spend.  

Essential Functions:

  • Lead, develop, and implement an integrated strategic process across 4 North America Brands. This role will work with brand stakeholders and Corporate to develop multi-year sourcing strategies and identify sourcing opportunities that effectively leverage our size and scale to deliver a competitive economic advantage while maintaining or improving quality and service levels. ​This position will have significant spend oversight for OPEX and CAPEX in the range of $500M-$750M in annual spend. The position will use mastery of analytical skills to solve complex problems utilizing a data driven approach to decision making.

  • This role requires executive presence, engagement and collaboration across the 4 North American brands. The director will provide team member and stakeholder support, identify a pipeline of projects and execute the sourcing, contracting and implementation process.

  • Develop Multi-Year Sourcing Strategies.

  • Build strategic plans to align sourcing and procurement activities with business priorities over a 3–5 year horizon to optimize supplier relationships, reduce total cost of ownership, mitigate risk, and drive innovation across categories. The Sourcing Strategy will drive the strategic initiatives and projects that deliver value for the category.

  • ​​Provide​ oversight and manage key supplier relationships and contracts across the 4 brands. 

  • Develop a supplier relationship management process for key suppliers and hold quarterly business reviews. 

  • Ensure a smooth transition of contracts to procurement operations.

  • Develop annual savings plan and pipeline. 

  • Deliver results for performance goals and measurements. The role is responsible for leading and delivering hard savings targets, cost avoidance and sustainability goals.

  • Manages Strategic Sourcing Initiatives. 

  • This role will use the 7-step strategic sourcing process to manage the initiatives including a market analysis, vendor analysis and baseline spend analysis.  This role will be responsible for developing a negotiation plan for each initiative in conjunction with key stakeholders, managing sourcing events, and maximizing business goals for value creation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain or other applicable disciplines

  • CPSM, or related supply chain certifications preferred but NOT REQUIRED.

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and problem solve   

  • Demonstrated ability to influence others and interact with all levels of the organization – can interface independently and effectively with peers in other departments / brands with an emphasis on being results oriented

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize changing workload requests

  • Strong, proven analytical skills (data analysis fundamentals)

  • Strong negotiation skills developed through sourcing / procurement environment experience

  • Strong knowledge of contracting (negotiating business terms and scope writing 

  • Aggressive “go getter”, driven, capable of working with little supervision

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; champion of change management; strong planning/project management skills. 

  • Uses quality management skills to ensure all procedures and work activities conform to work specifications and standards

  • 10+ years in an accomplished supply chain position (focus on strategy)

  • 3-5+ years in an executive leadership position preferred 

  • Supply chain experience leading strategic sourcing initiatives - applying best practices, developing category management strategy, utilizing the seven-step sourcing methodology, negotiation plans & expertise in influencing business strategy and supplier relations

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced business environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Problem solving: This role is is expected to navigate complex supply chain challenges, utilizing a data driven approach to decision making. The role requires a strategic thinker who will utilize spend management best practices, tools and techniques in the development and implementation of innovative solutions to ensure cost efficiency and high fill rates. The individual must be adept at managing multiple conflicting priorities and pressures, making quick, informed decisions to maintain the smooth operation of the supply chain.

  • Impact: The role is responsible for directly influencing cost savings, operational efficiency, and risk management across the organization, supporting strategic business goals.  It ensures the utilization of a  a 7-step strategic sourcing process across its team that includes but is not limited to a rigorous market analysis, supplier risk analysis, and baseline spend analysis, to generate options and document strategic plans that may include RFP execution, negotiations with suppliers, contract execution, and implementation and monitoring of source recommendations.

  • Leadership: ability to lead by influence, exemplary project management skills, people management skills, negotiate complex business deals, critical thinking, strategy, analysis, interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize changing workload requests.

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and problem solve

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

Travel: Less than 25% non-shipboard travel likely

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays.  Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
