Job Description


The MAST Deployment and Change Manager role will support in steering one of our Corporation's most impactful and strategic initiatives within Maritime Operations (MAST). The primary mandate for this role will be to manage the team who are responsible for the deployment and change strategy for the MAST Program, working in tandem with the Senior Manager to ensure the strategy is being delivered.  

Over the next two years, a critical milestone will be the successful corporate-wide implementation of MAST. In this pursuit, the candidate will not only collaborate closely with the Senior Manager but also multiple functions within the business as well as 3rd parties engaged to support.  This responsibility includes building and managing a proficient team capable of ensuring the delivery of agreed-upon benefits. 

Furthermore, as part of this role, there will be an expectation to provide guidance and support to various Brand Change Management Leads, equipping them with effective plans and templates for Ship Deployments, and sustaining ongoing change support. Drawing from the collective experiences and lessons learned from other brands. This role will support and facilitate the planning and execution of change activities, with a focus on continuous improvement to enhance future outcomes. 

Essential Functions:

Management and Ship Deployment:

  • Will be predominately focused on the MAST implementation and roll out (managing the collaborative effort across teams in what is needed to deliver for the implementation)
  • Liaise with Brand Lead, IT Leads and other key stakeholders to address ship deployment resource needs
  • Manage the plan for multiple ship deployment teams to meet deployment schedule
  • Coordinate resources from various functions including IT, ship operations, data governance, change management, finance, etc. to enable timely ship deployment
  • Identify, address and escalate risks and issues concerning parallel ship deployments
  • Track ship assessment/preparation and deployment progress to snr manager
  • Facilitate Hypercare process and transition to on-going support for each ship deployment
  • Manage cutover activities, adding lessons learnt to the process after each go live
  • Manage stakeholders at all levels, including Director level, through ABG and Brands
  • Develop and drive progress against project plans, and manage execution through the standard project management toolkit

Change and Communications:

  • Prepare organization for effective deployment and post-deployment support
  • Responsible for monitoring and overseeing the updating of core-level training and communication materials (Program-level) 
  • Oversee and provide guidance, plans, and templates for Brand Change Management (Including Change Experience and Communications) Leads to utilize for Ship Deployments and ongoing change support

  • Identify, document, analyze, and improve existing processes to meet the needs of the organization (e.g., process mapping, standardization)
  • Work across all brands to identify and align on strategic opportunities and priorities

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education:  Bachelor’s degree
  • Discipline/Major:  Project manager qualification
  • Required Certification:  Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar preferred
  • Required Years & Area of Professional Experience: 8-10 years of experience with project management and or implementation as a primary responsibility managing complex, initiatives, including a significant change management and process improvement element. Experience in maritime operations and dealing with a decentralized environment
  • Critical Professional Related Technical/Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); MS Visio and MS Project experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Project management – Proven ability to magage large, complex, global projects through the use of project management tools, including: developing a business case, project planning, identifying/ resolving/ escalating issues, driving progress against objectives, etc.
  • Process improvement – Proven ability to identify, document and improve existing processes to meet the needs of the organization 
  • Maritime Operations – A working understanding of complex, international operations 
  • Change management – Proven ability to drive change, build consensus, and resolve conflicts despite internal and external challenges
  • Relationship building – Proven success in building collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, with an ability to influence without authority
  • Communication – Excellent communication skills (both informal and formal - facilitation and presentation), solid executive presence
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong interest in Travel and Tourism

Decision-Making:

  • Tactical:  Decisions focus on intermediate-term issues. The purpose of decisions made at this level are to help move us closer to reaching strategic goals. Outcomes are predictable. After a decision is made by Top Executive Leadership, the next phase is to take the needed steps to implement it.  Examples are: The amount of money required to implement, which advertising agency to promote a new service or to provide an incentive plan to employees to encourage increased revenue.  Examples: Manages implementation of individual ships onto MAST for the brands – leads tactical decision making through daily stand ups with cross brand cross functional teams before and during implementation phase.
  • Operational:  Decisions focus on day-to-day activities within the company. Decisions made at this level help to ensure that daily activities proceed smoothly and therefore help to move the company toward reaching a strategic goal. They have short term consequences. Examples are: Handling employee conflicts, purchasing materials needed for operations. Examples:  Coordination of resources from various functions, both global and brand level including IT, ship operations, data governance, change management, finance, etc. to enable successful timely ship deployment

Travel:  No or very little travel likely.  Less than 25% non-shipboard travel likely.

Work Conditions:  Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential

This position is classified as "in-office." As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida from Tuesday through Thursday.  Employees may work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Some positions may require additional in-office time each week and final schedule is determined by your leader.  Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.

    • Sick Time – All full-time employees receive 80 hours of sick time each year.  Part-time with benefits employees receive time off based on the number of hours they work, with a minimum of 60 hours each year.
