Candidate Profile

Are you a world-class Technical Strategic Sourcing Manager with a high degree of technical aptitude who wants to help Carnival’s operating companies drive break-through savings across the organization while mitigating risks?

Do you have 5+ years in a management level position in a highly technical environment, such as Maritime, Navy, Ship Building, Industrial or Oil & Gas industries? Do you have a Bachelor’s in business or engineering, and perhaps have obtained your MBA and Certifications in Purchasing Management as well?

You have strong leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to champion procurement initiatives in cross-functional teams across multiple operating brands. You have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills that will allow you to lead highly ambiguous projects in a multi-cultural and complex environment with a key skill of driving simplicity.

As our Strategic Sourcing Manager, you would focus on an assigned category portfolio in order to achieve improvements in assurance of supply, quality, cost, and service levels.

Position Overview

Responsible for identifying, structuring and executing sourcing initiatives within the Technical Operating and Capital Expense budgets in categories such as equipment and related spares, consumables, services and repairs. Develops sourcing strategies and applies category management principles to leverage Carnival’s global scale always with Total Cost of Ownership mentality. Works closely with each operating line to ensure their business requirements and long term sustainability are met.  Leads vendor management activities to identify best market solutions, improve current vendors overall value proposition, develop relationships strategically and lead negotiations processes. Coordinates cross-brand sourcing activities with group technical purchasing leaders, brand and corporate marine operations stakeholders as well as corporate functional stakeholders ensuring the company 7 Step Sourcing Process is executed in a holistically approach. Identifies, manages key priorities for sourcing work. 

Essential Functions

  • Develop strategies that could deliver breakthrough change for Carnival Corporation and its operating lines - 7 step sourcing process
  • Develop / manage relationships with key suppliers that can deliver sustainable value to Carnival.
  • Work closely with operating line management and purchases leaders to identify strategic priorities for the business
  • Conduct comparison analysis of all bids, recommend suppliers for awards and propose special contractual terms and conditions.
  • Advise management and make recommendations for potential plans on sourcing, contracts or related functions
  • Understand external market and industry dynamics that could influence strategy development and make recommendations on how to leverage
  • Ability to identify key business attributes and communicate these in an analytical and persuasive manner to business partners

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Business or Engineering
  • Certifications in Purchasing Management a plus
  • 5+ Years of Procurement / Strategic Sourcing / Category Management. Demonstrated indirect leadership is highly valued. Maritime or industrial sourcing experience is a plus but not required.
  • Good working knowledge of and experience in strategic sourcing and/or category management techniques and practices including spend analysis, contract and commercial law
  • Skilled in supplier assessment, development and negotiation; contract bid evaluation; value analysis, supply chain analysis, economic factors and indicators.
  • Strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to champion procurement initiatives in cross-functional teams across multiple operating brands.
  • Ability to lead multi-cultural and highly ambiguous/complex environment with a key skill of driving simplicity.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to tailor for senior management, stakeholders, teams and suppliers (written, presentation, oral)
