Job Description:

Carnival is hiring a LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) Superintendent! This role will be the sole propulsion and auxiliary machinery subject matter expert leading the introduction of the new XL class of Natural Gas powered ships for CCL. Lead the implementation of LNG technical principles and fundamental competencies within Carnival Cruise Line to ensure successful introduction of LNG powered vessels in the Carnival Cruise Line fleet. Provide long term asset lifecycle management and operational support for the new XL class. This is a very visible position requiring a high degree of leadership and autonomy to collaborate across brands under guidance from the Corporate All Brands Group and in conjunction with fuel suppliers, state and port authorities.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the adoption of LNG within Carnival Cruise Line utilizing a risk based approach to provide major input for development of operating and safety procedures.
  • Manage the development and implementation of LNG procedures for the XL class of LNG fuelled vessels through collaborative engagements with stakeholders including Shipyard, OEMs, Integrators, Class, Operators, State and Port Authorities.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert input to operational brands in terms of in service use, planned and unplanned maintenance activities including dry docking and inspections.
  • Provide Subject Matters Expert input and co-ordinate with Marine Operations and the Corporate Technical Team for the development of training material for Carnival’s Training Center.
  • Provide Subject Matters Expert input to New Build team including: Maximizing operational efficiency of proposed shipyard LNG design, Risk mitigations of current proposed design, Specification of future platform design(s)
  • Maintain relationships with Carnival Corp, CCS, SGMF, IMO, Manufacturers and other organizations to ensure the CCL is continuously updated related to LNG matters


  • Master’s in Marine Engineering or related fields of study preferred
  • 10- 15 years of experience with LNG engines and marine systems
  • Demonstrated LNG engine design, operation and maintenance expertise
