Job Description:

We are currently seeking a ONE IT PMO Financial Analyst. The IT PMO Financial Analyst facilitates the efficient financial management of the Carnival Portfolio by creating and enforcing effective processes and procedures while training and supporting the project management function.  Collaborates with the PMO Governance team to mature the PMLC.  This position assists with the delivery of the Carnival Portfolio.        

  • Collaborates to create, test and implement processes to improve operational efficiencies and drive project management maturity as it relates to portfolio finances.  Works to improve processes, education and compliance. 
  • Assists with the onboarding and education of users by creating and delivering training (i.e. formal & informal, class room & one-on-one, training manuals and quick reference docs, etc.) on financial processes and tools.  Ensures all financial processes are documented and maintained on the PMO website.  Collaborates with IT leadership and Finance to improve processes, education and compliance around project /portfolio finances.  
  • Enforces financial processes and procedures through the creation, monitoring, and dissemination of audit reports (e.g. KPI’s, metrics, CARs, etc.).  Responsible for reviewing and/or resolving discrepancies or inconsistencies that could affect the accuracy of project/portfolio finances.  Identifies and communicates issues with respect to project financial controls. 
  • Participates in the configuration and testing of tool updates. Provides appropriate training on new / changed finance functions.
  • Provides support to the PMO Governance Team (i.e. conducts meetings, distributes financial reporting, etc.) and collaborates to ensure tools and processes are integrated and effective. 
  • Provides support on financial standards, processes, tools and reports.  Leads Project Managers throughout the project cost estimation process, development of resource plans and schedules to produce accurate project budgets.  Ensures cost estimates are comprehensive, accurate and tracked properly (e.g. CapEx, OpEx, Ongoing costs).  Coaches Project Managers in conducting accurate monthly project costs reconciliations and forecasts. Partners with Finance to support Project Managers through the Capital Appropriation Request (CAR) process. 
  • Supports the Capital Planning process as well as monthly reconciliation.  Supports project/ portfolio reviews and alignment of cross brand project prioritization.  Establishes appropriate communications to improve transparency and track project financials.  (i.e. reports, metrics, meetings, KPIs, etc.), enabling IT and Business Leadership to make informed decisions that maximize returns across projects and programs.


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • An undergraduate degree in Finance or related field is required.  Master’s Degree is a plus.  
  • PMO certification is a plus.   
  • Three years’ experience working in IT Finance required.  Experience working in a professional PMO preferred.  Experience in cruise industry a plus. 
  • Excellent understanding of project financing lifecycle and the capital funding process.  Good interpersonal, facilitation and consensus building skills.  Ability to obtain cooperation and build trust.  Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively.  Quick learner and logical with strong financials skills.  Ability to multi-task.    Experience with Oracle Financials is a plus 
  • Basic understanding of project management methodologies and tools and various software development lifecycles a plus.  Proficient with MS Office productivity tools.  Expertise with Excel.  Experience with reporting tools (Cognos & Tableau) is a plus.
