Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Occupational Safety Manager is the review and analysis of accident investigations and accident trends in order to identify mitigation measures to reduce the accident frequency onboard our fleet. This position serves as a liaison between the fleet and the shoreside management, concerning occupational safety.

The Occupational Safety Manager will assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to Occupational Safety included in the Company Management Systems, promoting safety awareness to crew and guests.

Essential Functions:

  • Shoreside review and approval of injury reports submitted to Seaevent. Analyze accidents and monitor accident trends for crew and guests.
  • Identify and assess potential hazards and/or risks for crew and guests, with a focus on preventive accidents and incidents
  • Development and implementation of policies and procedures related to Occupational Safety included in the Company Management Systems. 
  • Assist the ships with implementation of safety initiatives, programs, and/or campaigns
  • Developing safety related training material for officers and team members, as required.
  • Lead or assist, as assigned, during Level 2 Accident Investigations.
  • Development and implementation of occupational safety corrective and preventive action plans in response to internal and/or external audits.
  • Reviewing ship Safety Committee Meeting minutes and assisting the vessels in any corrective actions or procedure improvements noted in the meetings.
  • Providing technical assistance to shipboard security team during accident investigations.


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Technical Degree in Safety or Marine Safety or other technical area
  • Experience in developing and running marine or industrial safety programs
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in conducting Environmental, Safety, or Marine audits

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • The ability to speak/read and write properly in English is required and Italian is beneficial
  • Ability to work across department boundaries is required
  • Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel required. Microsoft Project preferred

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities. May need to stand for long periods of time.

Travel: 25-50% ship and shore-based travel likely

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

The range for this role’s base salary is $75,900 - $112,000.  Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
