Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Marine Safety Manager! The Marine Safety Manager is the Subject Matter Expert for ECDIS, VP and INS. He/she participate in the Shoreside Incident Response Plan as directed. Assist the Director Nautical Planning to ensure the correct implementation onboard of International, National, Local Port regulation & requirements relating to Nautical Safety. Assist Director Nautical Planning for audit findings. Assist VP Nautical Operation and O.S.S. for hiring and promotion of Deck Officers. Regularly review the HESS-MS and update the Company policies on Nautical Safety, Bridge procedures and Best practices. He/she is the Point of Contact and Supervisor for the Shipboard Bridge Manager for all issues related to Navigation Procedures, Passage Planning, ECDIS implementation/use and INS. Regularly review VDR for a correct implementation of the BRMM procedures and share feedback with the involved parties. Responsible for the fleet compliance with ECDIS requirements. And HESS-MS assigned MAR procedures compliance. Coordinate with the technical department the upgrade of the Bridge Instruments to comply with ECDIS requirements and improve overall operation on the BRMM procedures. Responsible for the management of the fleet Nautical Charts (ENC and Paper) and publications. Provide assistance to the Technical department for Bridge instruments related to navigation. Assist the Director Nautical Planning for itinerary planning and port assessment. Co-operate in the Evaluation of the Bridge Managers. In conjunction with Director Nautical Planning, manage the CSMART O.L. Nautical Instructors program. Fuel model approval (1st stage). Other Nautical related tasks as directed.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitors International and Maritime Legislation and Codes of Practice.
  • Assist with Dry Dock Planning, Processes and Planned Maintenance Bridge Instrumentations.
  • Ensure Crew Proficiency, Training, Safety Awareness and Operations onboard.
  • Active Response and Role during emergency scenarios in relation to the Shoreside Incident Response Plan (SIRP) that includes training.
  • Organize and Maintain Ship Nautical Charts and Publications.
  • CSMART related planning.
  • Assist with the tracking of the CMS Safety Notices in InfoShip and PMS Shipboard Items.
  • Assist during ship Itinerary changes, Rotations and Deviations.
  • Line Instructor’s Scheduling and support.
  • Fuel Model Administration.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nautical Academy or Master License.
  • Knowledge in SOLAS, BRM, ECDIS and INS.
  • Minimum 5 Years of Experience.
  • Nautical Safety Operations.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office and other programs related to Lifesaving Systems.
