The Marine Planning Lead will become the subject matter expert on the vessel change process, which will allow them to support the change owners with form submissions and provide guidance on the process, ensure adequate documentation is provided in the forms, guarantee that all submissions meet compliance and corporate guidelines, respond to questions regarding the process, provide user trainings as needed, and identify roadblocks and opportunities for improvement. 

This role will oversee and coordinate a comprehensive portfolio of vessel changes across the CCL Fleet. Upon submission of forms, they will be required to conduct a preliminary high-level review of project risk assessments to ensure that they are complete, thorough and that the overall risk is moderate to low. They will follow the approvals workflow to ensure timely approvals before projects commence onboard, work to integrate the process with other processes such as capital requests and dry dock planning, and be responsible for tracking and reporting on the effectiveness of the process. 

Additionally, the Lead should become familiar with the tools that support the process to be able to quickly identify issues and participate in troubleshooting activities to minimize disruptions in the process flow.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee Vessel Change Compliance
    • Evaluate all significant changes to vessels to ensure alignment with company policies.
    • Implement and enforce Global Health Environment Safety Security (GHESS) change management procedures.
    • Conduct thorough reviews of proposed changes, considering technical, operational, and organizational impacts.
    • Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure changes meet regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Risk Assessment and Documentation Support
    • Assist change owners in conducting comprehensive risk assessments for proposed vessel modifications.
    • Guide the development of detailed risk mitigation strategies.
    • Ensure proper documentation of all risk evaluations, including potential impacts on safety, environment, and operations.
    • Maintain an up-to-date risk register for all ongoing and completed changes
  • Change Management Tool and Training
    • Provide hands-on support to change owners for planning and executing change requests within the designated tool.
    • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for both shipboard and shoreside personnel.
    • Create user guides and best practice documents for the change management tool.
    • Conduct regular refresher courses to ensure all users remain proficient in GHESS requirements and procedures.
  • Project Tracking and Performance Analysis
    • Implement a robust system for tracking project milestones and deliverables.
    • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the efficiency of change management processes.
    • Analyze process performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Prepare and present executive reports to senior leadership on a regular basis, highlighting project statuses, challenges, and successes.
  • Tool Development and Organizational Synergy
    • Collaborate with IT and relevant departments to enhance project management and change management tools.
    • Identify opportunities for integration between existing systems to improve efficiency.
    • Foster cross-brand collaboration to share best practices and standardize processes where applicable.
    • Participate in industry forums to stay updated on the latest project management and change management technologies.
  • Continuous Improvement Leadership
    • Conduct regular audits of change management processes to identify inefficiencies.
    • Lead cross-functional teams in developing and implementing process improvements.
    • Benchmark internal practices against industry standards to ensure best-in-class performance.
    • Initiate and manage pilot programs to test new methodologies or tools for change management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Change Management, Engineering
  • 3-5 years in change management or working in a PMO or related field 
  • Project management training/certification, Change management frameworks, MS365 proficiency, Power Fx, Power BI/Tableau
  • Experiencing in leading technology change or technical projects. Experience working in a PMO and implementing project management processes, evaluating risks matrices and guiding technical changes in lieu of project management experience.

  • Emotional Intelligence: Understanding and managing emotions, both their own and those of others, to navigate resistance and build support.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to clearly convey information and expectations to all stakeholders, team members, and other departments. 
  • Analytical Skills: Tracking and monitoring changes and making data-driven decisions. 
  • Problem-Solving: Identifying and addressing issues that arise during the change process.
  • Risk Management: Knowledge of risk identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies to handle potential obstacles during the change process.
  • Organizational Behavior: Knowledge of how organizations operate, including the dynamics of organizational culture, structure, and processes.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills are necessary to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and resources efficiently
  • Adaptability: Being flexible and open to adjusting plans as needed. Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

Travel: No or very little travel likely

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays.  Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.

Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.

    • Sick Time – All full-time employees receive 80 hours of sick time each year.  Part-time with benefits employees receive time off based on the number of hours they work, with a minimum of 60 hours each year.
