Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Mobile Web Architect! The Web Architect sets the technical direction and leads the end-to-end delivery of large-scale guest facing projects designed to address business needs. This resource provides technical solutions adhering to industry accepted best practices and will influence the direction of project solutions.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a lead with responsibilities that include architect and engineering solutions, providing technical guidance, creating functional code adhering to Carnival coding standards, managing the work of other engineers working in a product team context.
  • Provide strong technical leadership and mentoring to teams with diverse skill sets and roles. Team members can include but are not limited to developers, testers, and business analysts.
  • Be a technical thought leader who helps shape both technical direction and process improvements across the digital portfolios.
  • Provide accurate LOE estimates on scope and cost using both traditional waterfall and agile delivery mechanisms.
  • Attain and maintain expertise in troubleshooting and debugging technologies in order to provide timely and effective problem resolution to production problems as they arise.
  • Have a full stack view of a solution and partner with Engineering and Operations in support of delivering secure, maintainable, highly scalable solutions.
  • Communicate important decisions to management and keep them informed of progress throughout the entire software development life cycle. Effectively communicate trade-offs and risks; drive key decisions on assigned project or scrum pipeline.
  • Work with Supervisor Digital Architecture and security to create and maintain best of breed architecture and security roadmap that aligns to company's business needs today and for the future.
  • Review third party work in terms of quality and adherence to standards.
  • Oversee the build process, design documentation, and conduct design and code reviews and ensure key technical design documentation is completed to a high standard.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems, or equivalent related technical experience is required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading cross functional teams, with ability to create new teams and/or grow and mentor existing resources both technically and operationally. At least 8 years of total software development experience.
  •  Ability to listen to team members and communicate instructions effectively.
  • Ability to lead, direct and control team members.
  • Ability to handle multiple jobs at the same time.
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, of Quality Assurance techniques using source code control repositories, and n-tier debugging & testing experience is expected.
  • Strong experience with technical troubleshooting production software.
  • Solid experience developing instrumentation strategies for production systems.
  • Strong experience of Java, Object Oriented programming, TDD, and design patterns.
  • Experience with Java server side rendering technologies such as JSP, JSTL and Velocity.
  • Proven understanding of dependency injection.
  • Strong experience developing applications with Spring Framework.
  • Strong knowledge of from end technologies like: Javascript, Typescript, React, Responsive user interfaces.
  • Experience designing and delivering large scale distributed systems.
  • Expert understanding of security, reliability, scalability, high availability, and concurrency architectural patterns and solutions.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational database technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with agile development.
  • Comfortable providing software estimates.
