Job Description:

The Infrastructure Project Manager - manages a number of large infrastructure projects in support of shore side or shipboard initiatives. These initiatives can be purely infrastructure or in support of a software development effort with complex or large infrastructure footprints. This individual is responsible for all aspects related to taking the projects from original concept through final deployment and contributes as a subject matter specialist in technology infrastructure implementation and light software development. This position manages vendors, CCL, Global Infrastructure Services (GIS) and other Corporate IT teams as required by the project. This person participates in strategic and operational processes by working with members of the senior management team while ensuring IT initiatives achieve business goals, fostering innovation, prioritizing initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future projects. This role is wholly responsible for project delivery and is considered the single point of authority. This individual is responsible for managing the project scope and budget and applying a change control process to document deviations. This person is also responsible for project communications to the team, IT management and business sponsor.


Essential Functions:

  • Project Management Execution and Control: Define project scope and objectives and develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans and status reports. Conduct project meetings and produce meeting minutes and issues logs. Produce risk analysis and risk mitigation plans. Effectively build and manage project budgets. Manage people, work and resources as planned: examples include business analysts, application developers and testers
  • Project Quality: Ensure adherence to Project Management Process, Systems Development Methodology and quality standards for producing project deliverables. Provide project management, technical and analytical guidance to the project team.
  • Technical / Analytical Leadership: Recommend and take action to direct the analysis and solution of complex problems: examples include resource availability conflicts that jeopardize project budget and/or schedule expectations. Ensure proper technical procedures are followed.
  • Project Leadership: Interface with all areas affected by the project: examples include business sponsors, operations, application development, end users, computer services, client services, operations, vendors, and Senior IT management.
  • Vendor Management: Manage vendor selection, contract negotiations and the integration of vendor tasks into the work plan. Track and review vendor deliverables: examples include software development artifacts such as design artifacts and test plans.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field is required.
  • An advance degree is highly desirable, particularly an MBA.
  • Formal training and certification in the system development life cycle and project management is preferred. PMP or PgMP certification is a plus.
  • Minimum 6 years overall experience in information technology infrastructure implementations.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in IT implementing and supporting mixed, complex environments and solutions.
  • Background in the Cruise Industry will be considered a plus.
  • Experience developing project estimates and resource plans.
  • Ability to document coherent and concise project status reports including issues and risks
  • Experience conducting project meetings and subsequently documenting/distributing meeting minutes and action item, including responsibilities for same, in a timely manner.
  • Experience progressing complex project schedules, identify and manage the project’s critical path, proactively identifying and escalating risks to project’s schedule, budget or quality.
  • Experience tracking project expenses, forecasting future spend, calculating estimates-at-complete and proactively advising of forecasted variances along with proposed corrective action.
  • Experience managing the participation of resources assigned to the project and holding them accountable for completing tasks in line with the effort and timeline estimates they provide – escalating issues proactively to resource’s manager to mitigate impacts to project expectations.
  • Experience managing a team of resources through all phases of the systems development life cycle including the production of deliverables associated with advancing through the phases
  • Experience managing multiple major projects simultaneously utilizing standard project management processes as defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI)
  • Ability to review vendor’s statements of work for completeness and relevance to project objectives
  • Experience managing vendors in the execution of their statement of work and holding them accountable; anticipating/escalating to direct supervisor if gaps or issues. • Ability to request and obtain commitments for project team resources, preferably via automated processes (ie., enterprise project management tools)
  • MS Project in order to develop detailed work plans and schedules. MS PowerPoint presentation development. MS Excel to support project budget estimation and forecasting.
  • Strong background and experience in IT technologies and managing infrastructure implementations.
  • Experience supporting the whole lifecycle of infrastructure implementations, infrastructure lifecycle management, IT governance plan, IT Service catalog and standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications in U.S. English. Intermediate fluency in Italian and/or German and/or Spanish are pluses.
  • Firm level of proficiency and technical understanding of applications and systems lifecycle
  • Experience implementing technology in support of cruise line businesses is significant plus
  • Global perspective. Accustomed to doing business around the world and comfortable working with professionals with diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Strong experience in technology planning, project planning, team leadership, as well as establishing and managing service measures to ensure organizational effectiveness
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, including remotely or on ships.
