We are seeking a HRIS Manager. This position defines and oversees the strategic initiatives related Human Resource and Payroll Applications.  The Manager will manage the Oracle HCM release management strategy for Carnival Cruise Line and the sister brands for any applications shared across brands. 

Manage the enhancement strategy for Core HR, ship and shore Payroll, Learning, Compensation and Benefits, and Talent Acquisition systems. This individual plays a key role in our efforts to provide decision support in selecting, optimizing, prioritizing and executing projects, managing the deployment of systems and services, designing tools, as well as evaluating/monitoring operational and financial benefits.

The Manager‘s role oversees resources leading and/or supporting projects (system maintenance and enhancements) related to Core HR, ship and shore Payroll, Learning, Compensation and Benefits, and Talent Acquisition functions, supporting both strategic and tactical initiatives and working alongside Operations and the Information Technology team to develop key strategic initiatives based on interpretation of analyses and detailed review of current processes.

Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring the success of project delivery in terms of functionality and quality.   This individual proactively seeks opportunities to partner with business units on important strategic initiatives and works with IT, Decision Support, business users and any other departments as needed to support the development and implementation of new business practices.

Essential Functions:

  • Create a Governance model for managing applications shared across Operating Companies.  Manage Security of Cloud Application.  Configure security changes in the Oracle Cloud environment including job and data roles, profiles, and audits.
  • Manage the process of monthly patching, quarterly upgrades and client releases, coordinating the regression testing and application global configuration resources.  Work on identifying additional functionality from the release that could/should be considered and work with the functional owners and application leads on adopting.  Develop and plan testing strategy for both on premise and cloud applications.
  • Collaborate with the enterprise to understand the impact to the business and uses big picture view to calibrate priorities across projects.  Assist in championing new ideas.  Understand the Carnival (all Opco’s) vision and organizations goals.
  • Identify best, efficient, and cost beneficial solutions when business processes are being implemented and require input or output from critical systems.  Work closely with Core HR, ship and shore Payroll, Learning, Compensation and Benefits, and Talent Acquisition management teams for departmental improvements and efficiency.
  • Plans, allocates and manages staff resources that outline and support department procedures and set standards. Oversees the training and development of team. Consistently develops staff through ongoing performance feedback.   Planning, organizing, leading and monitoring team members through multiple projects.
  • Develop and present business cases for potential projects
  • Oversee all projects, shipboard and shore-side, and other teams as directed by Finance leadership
  • Proactively understands and manages risks by developing, testing, and/or implementing controls that are in support of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) regulations.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, IT, Human Resources Management, Payroll, Finance, or related field of study; or any combination of relevant background, skills and experience. MBA preferred.
  • PMP preferred
  • Oracle Cloud HCM experience required.  5+ years of experience in a managerial role with background in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), including working knowledge of core HR functions, compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, workforce management, training, and employee and manager self-service. Enterprise HR system experience required. Project management experience preferred. Must have practical experience testing enterprise size applications and conducting risk base analysis.
  • Ability to manage the HRIS team and HR business analysis processes. Ability to support HR systems operations, to lead the implementation of a global governance model, and to lead the global release management process. Ability to manage time and engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously at a fast pace. Ability to problem solve and excellent communication skills.
  • General knowledge of infrastructure requirements and components, SharePoint sites, intranets, and networks. General understanding of financial data analysis tools and systems such as Oracle Financials, or Tableau.   Must have strong command of Microsoft Office programs, advance level of Excel and interactive reporting tools. 
  • Project management experience, including testing of enterprise size applications. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, planning and problem solving skills. Able to multi-task, work independently and balance requests at peak workloads (or change gears quickly for important requests) from various departments and upper management.
  • Must possess the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the highest degree of care, integrity, and discretion.
