Job Description:

We are currently seeking a CAD Drafter! The CAD Drafter uses CAD software to provide updates and support CCL by preparing layouts, detail drawings, modifications, as-built, existing plans and storing information on CAD system for technical / marine projects.  Update ship’s information database making sure that all modifications to existing features are properly noted.  Details should include all views and dimensions as deemed necessary in order to view overall scenario and available space for planning and identifying the space capacity and functionality. Develop technical and marine knowledge in order to provide call outs and feedback when proposed changes to a technical project may impact other areas and drawings

Essential Functions:

  • Uses computer assisted design/drafting software such as AutoCAD and Photoshop to develop technical designs following CCL Drafting Standards.
  • Maintain library of technical drawings and specifications for equipment onboard CCL ships (AAQS (Advanced Air Quality System) , OWS (Oil Water Separator), piping, ballast water systems, among others. Verify the plan updates and revise if needed.
  • Constructs and develops final sketches of proposed drawing, checking dimensions and materials are scaled accordingly to determine proper spacing and planning.
  • Coordination and design of CAD drawing files for use on normal ship operations, special projects and prior, during and post dry dock periods for CCL Fleet.
  • Develop sketches and final drawings following markups provided by the Fleet Technical Document Center Manager, Project Manager or shipboard personnel.
  • Communicate with all departments that participate in ship projects to understand scopes of work and maintain detailed project documentation schedules. This will include providing feedback and call outs when proposed changes to a technical project may impact other areas and drawings.
  • Follow CCL procedures to communicate finalized drawings with all relevant parties including deliveries of digitized drawings and hard copies to all parties.
  • Carry out onboard inspections on dry dock and non-dry dock projects that affect technical drawings to determine as-built conditions of various drawings:  arrangement, fire and safety, piping, etc.
  • Converts existing production drawings to many file types and extensions for use on other compatible programs.
  • Maintains proper communication and Quality Assurance of new and revised prints.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Design or Architecture.
  • Design experience essential as well as strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects.  Experience with AUTOCAD and Photoshop is required.  Experience with Illustrator and additional design software is desired.
  • Technical Capacity, Communication proficiency, Strong Organizational Skills, Ability to multi-task, Problem Solving and Analysis and Collaboration Skills.
  • AUTOCAD, Photoshop and other design software that can help to render the overall views and dimensions.  Knowledge of Revit (BIM) a plus.
